Manjo
Schools for Africa posted a video on their website about a boy in Madagascar, named Manjo, and how their efforts changed his life. Schools for Africa works directly in the various African countries. Their efforts are made by hands on actions. Schools for Africa posted the video to help their supporters and partners to help visualize their work. The video also allowed Schools for Africa to teach their mission. Manjo, a 13 year-old boy from Madagascar, says “I’m really happy that I’m learning here. Before I couldn’t read or count. And now, thanks to me teachers, I can read.” He is more than happy that he can actually attend a school. The only downfall is that there is only one teacher in the entire school and his school cannot afford to teacher beyond 1st and 2nd grade. Because of this, Manjo is on his third repetition of 2nd grade. His family is very poor. Manjo doesn’t not eat at home because he knows he can at school. UNICEF is working in Madagascar to offer new child friendly schools. Children like Manjo can further their education and learn to the best of their abilities. Manjo is excited about the addition to his school. “So I’ll be able to move to the next grade. I’m really excited.”
